She also was the Deputy Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of New York and Head of Cinema Department at Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
EMANUELA MASCHERINI ACTRESS/WRITER/DIRECTOR Emanuela Mascherini is an Italian actress, writer and director. She graduated in Acting at the Experimental Center of Cinematography in Rome and she got a Diploma in Digital Filmmaking as a director at the NYFA in New York. She got a Degree in Theories and Techniques of Film Language at the University of Florence. She has been working as an actress in theater, television, and film. She wrote award winning books in different genres. Her works were selected and awarded in several National and International Film Festival, included the selection of Nastri D’argento and the selection of David di Donatello Shortlist. She collaborates and has been member of the jury or President of the jury in several International Festivals: Mostra del Cinema di Venezia for Lino Miccichè Award, and many others. President of the Jury of Florence Korea Film Fest. In 2019 she was selected by EFA European Film Award- and Toscana Film commission for a “A Sunday in the country”. She is the Founder of the Festival CineAtelier about first and second feature films.
GAIA KIM BARTOLINI Gaia Kim Bartolini Is an Italian screenwriter who works between Canada and USA since 2007, when she graduated in NY under the guidance of Seth Michael Donsky at the NYFA. She traveled to the USA after she obtained a degree in Medieval History from the University of Pisa. Depth of Sorrow is her first script for a motion picture and her degree work. After she got her degree in NY she moved to Toronto where she collaborates with the CBC and is involved in the realization of Murdoch Mysteries (seasons 8 and 9 with 12 episodes each). In 2015 she signed a contract with Marvel Entertainment, and she collaborates on the editing of some books based on the comics. Since 2017 she is co-host of Devil’s in the Details, a podcast that analyzes the different aspects of the horror genre. The last episode had as a guest Sean Crouch, the executive producer of The Exorcist tv serie. In 2020 she began a new adventure in podcasting with Beneath your skin, a podcast that analyzes horror genre and specifically demonic possession. For the podcast she worked with Plato Angelakis, a real life exorcist based in Toronto. In 2020 she also became co-host of Korean Queer movies, the first season of a podcast about the development of the queer thematics and genre in Korean movies. 2020 was a busy year. She signed a contract for her first Graphic Novel, Rebirth of a soul, of which she’ll handle the script and story development. It will be her first collaboration with Zoe Burges, an English artist and writer. In Italy she forged a strong partnership with Emanuela Mascherini. Together they work on the subject and screenplay of Between the lines. The subject in 2018 was a finalist at the Figari Film Festival, while the script won the Rome Independent Film Festival in the section dedicated to the original scripts. Together the two are also working on the development and treatment of Alice without Marvels, based on Emanuela’s book.
SERENA BARELA Serena Barela worked ten years in the Audiovisual Archive of the Democratic and Labour Movement in Rome, Italy, gaining a deep knowledge of the documentary filmmaking and being responsible for research on archive footage for Italian and international film and video productions. Creator of film archives for Satellite TV, including SKY Italy. Thought Management, Conservation, and Restoration of Multimedia Audiovisual Archives at the University of Cagliari, Italy. Teacher in Master Degree course "Digital Heritage - Digital Archives in the Digital Era", at the Puglia Digital Library in Bari, Italy. Curator of a film exhibition for the Deutsche Kinemathek - Museum für Film und Fernsehen in Berlin, Germany
MARCO QUINTARELLI Production Director with an extensive past in documentary, historical, and cultural films, also nominated in Cannes Film Festival. Worked with RAI TV, various channels on Sky TV, LA7 Network covering the Venice International Film Festival, and as Executive Producer for Medusa Video. Produced video for Repubblica and Cineuropa.
MICHELE PRINCIGALLI Producer, photographer, visual artist, and technology expert based in Berlin, Germany. After completing an Entertainment Studies Program at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles, joined Activision Studios to work on the first projects to integrate cinematic and musical contents with video games, working closely with Photography directors, animators, programmers, actors, speakers, musicians, and more. Later produced and coordinated educational content production in France and Italy for museums, news, television, stock agencies, and app developers.
ABOUT CINEBERG UG We are a collective of film professionals united by the common intent of discovering and enhancing new talent in order to promote their names and work. In this regard, this festival takes submissions online and holds annual screening events in Berlin where a selection of the films will be briefly introduced to the public. Berlin is where we work and cooperate with different production realities in the area, which for us represents a fertile crossroads of cultures and looks to the future.
